As per the tweet Sam heughan said that filming of Outlander Season 6 has been finalized at the end of the May.
He also tweet that the Outlander season 6 would be consist of 8 episodes and the next season 7 would be 16 episode. This reduction of episodes is due to ongoing pandemic and that impact the shooting of the whole series.
